This outstanding Fitou is a powerful and full bodied, oak aged wine. It will accompany strong meats and spicy sauces as well as delicately roasted duck.
A rare wine, l’Essentiel is the result of carefully handpicked grapes and skilful blending by Michel Marty the winemaker at Mont Tauch.
Once in a while, the vintage produces a really special wine. In 2001, Michel Marty, selected his best Carignan, Grenache and Syrah grapes to produce a truly outstanding wine.
The grapes for l’Essentiel come from selected vineyards, planted on the slopes around Mont Tauch, where the magic of “terroir” finds its true expression.
Tasting: an intense purple colour and a powerful nose of ripe fruits, vanilla and wild herbs. The palate is rich and full with exceptional length and soft rounded tannins.
Serve at 17°C
Constituting the main part of the blend, the Syrah is harvested at 13° and vinified for fifteen days after destalking. The Carignan and Grenache also ferment for twenty to twenty five days. The wine is racked and returned daily during the first week and twice weekly until the wine is put into oak.
Les Douze, a rich and spicy Fitou. Full character, this wine rewards twelve of our best growers.
